About Us

The Community Learning Centers (CLC) mission is to meet the needs of the whole child, strengthen families, and steward community resources through trusted partnerships. As a department of the Sioux Falls School District we are committed to strengthening connections between schools, families and the community. As part of this mission, we run a collaborative program of out-of-school time and summer enrichment programs within school buildings, serving thousands of kids throughout the district.

For Out-of-School Time care, we partner with four Community Providers: Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire, EmBe, Volunteers of America: Dakotas, and the YMCA. These providers manage each of our 23 elementary and 3 middle school CLC sites, while following a unified operating standard to ensure quality and consistency throughout all locations.

Far beyond just a safe place for kids when school is out, our Elementary and Middle School programs offer quality care with exceptional educational activities, numerous enhancement opportunities, and interest clubs. Through our large variety of community partners, kids can explore STEM, sports, dance, cooking, life-skill development, music, art, theater and more! Hands-on, engaging activities help extend learning in many fun ways.

Each of our CLC schools has a designated Connection Coordinator on staff who focuses on building relationships between students, staff, families and the community. These Connection Coordinators help bridge the gap between school-day and out-of-school care, and improve family engagement and connection for the entire school community.
